Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a High School Diploma, GED or its equivalent.
Proof of Legal Presence in the U.S.
The Idaho Real Estate Commission requires that all license candidates complete an approved 90-hour Pre-Licensing Education course. Once the education requirement is satisfied (including both modules and the course exams), candidates have up to three years before the course completion becomes null.
After you complete all the course materials, meet the minimum time requirement, and pass the practice exam, there is a course final exam. The minimum passing score is 70%.
The next step is to pass the Idaho Salesperson Licensing Exam. The exam, which must be scheduled with Pearson VUE, consists of two parts; a state-specific portion and a national portion. Those seeking additional practice can do so by choosing a textbook from the approved textbook list. They can also download the License Law and Rules Booklet and guidelines are available from the IREC website.
State law mandates that all license applicants submit to fingerprinting and a background check. Fingerprinting can be completed at an authorized Pearson VUE testing center and can take anywhere from 1 to 12 weeks for processing. The fingerprinting fee is $61.25. Candidates are no longer able to view their fingerprint results. Candidates are now advised to submit their fingerprints for approval through Pearson VUE.
Applicants with a criminal history aren’t necessarily disqualified from obtaining a license, but they may need to provide additional documentation. Please contact IREC for additional instructions for applicants with a criminal record.
For the protection of all involved in the real estate transaction, Idaho real estate agents must carry an errors & omissions insurance policy before a Salesperson License can be activated. The commission offers a group policy through Rice Insurance Services Co, but some brokerage firms possess policies that extend coverage to their agents, so always check with the employing broker before purchasing a policy.

The last remaining step in getting an Idaho Salesperson License is to apply and pay the associated $160 application fee. All licensees must create an account and submit their applications online through IREC's licensing portal.
