The amount of time to get your Massachusetts Broker real estate license is dependent on a number of factors, though most complete the requirements within a few months. There are a number of steps to complete which include education, collecting all forms, and passing the exam.
To get a Massachusetts real estate broker license you must complete the following steps as required by the Massachusetts Real Estate Board:
Complete 40 hours of approved Massachusetts Pre-Licensing broker education.
Pass the final exam for your course.
Fill out or obtain completed forms.
Schedule and take the Massachusetts Real Estate Exam with PSI.
Receive your license.
The exam is composed of 80 general points with a time limit of 150 minutes and 40 state points with a time limit of 90 minutes. In addition to the number of points per examination, a small number of five to ten "experimental" points may be administered to candidates during the examinations. These points will not be scored and the time taken to answer them will not count against the examination time.
The Massachusetts Real Estate Board will determine if the applicant for licensure possesses good moral character at the time of application. Due to this review by the RE Board, it is difficult to give a definitive list of criminal acts that would preclude someone from getting a license. RE Board staff strongly suggests students review RE Board's Policy and Guidelines on Good Moral Character.
