State Requirements

The 2025-2026 Broker-in-Charge Update (BICUP) Course is a four (4) hour course that must be completed by all brokers-in-charge and brokers who have BIC-Eligible status and who wish to renew their licenses on active status on July 1, 2026, for the 2025-2026 license year.

This four (4) hour course will be delivered via Zoom and include 210 minutes of classroom instruction and 30 minutes of breaks.

Renewal Date: 6/30 every year

Continuing Education Deadline: 6/10 every year

Hours Required: 8 hours

4 hours – Broker-In-Charge Update hours
4 hours – Elective hours

The deadline for completing CE each license year is June 10th. No courses will be offered between June 11th and June 30th.

Reporting: The state requires course completions to be reported to the state. We will report your course to the state upon completion.

Expiration Date of Course: Courses expire 30 days from the order date pursuant to the NC REC. Re-enrollment will be required if the course is not completed 30 days from the order date. All CE courses, regardless of order date, must be completed before June 10th each year.

Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with at least a 75% and may be taken as many times as needed to pass.

License Renewal Process: The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew.

Seat Time: It is required that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.
