This package provides 150 hours of instruction in real estate principles and practices, required of all applicants for a broker license in Oregon, as well as Oregon Exam Prep Edge, and your first CE renewal package.

The courses prepare learners for the Oregon licensing exam and provide the knowledge and foundation necessary to be a successful real estate broker in Oregon.

Oregon Pre-Licensing Enrollment and Orientation

This program provides the 150 hours of instruction required to be eligible for an Oregon Real Estate Broker license. The program prepares learners for the Oregon state licensing exam and provides the practical business knowledge and foundation necessary to be a successful real estate broker in Oregon.  

This course contains the orientation that is required prior to beginning the first for-credit course.  

Oregon 30-Hour Real Estate Law

This course offers 30 hours of foundational real estate topics directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include broker responsibilities and supervision; laws affecting real estate; property ownership and land use; agency; property disclosures; and contracts.

Course highlights include:

  • An overview of broker supervision, ethics, and antitrust
  • A look at key areas of concern in real estate including fair housing, advertising, technology, and trust accounts
  • A dive into how property is owned, possessed, or encumbered including public and private land use controls and restrictions
  • A summary of agency including types, duties, creation (agreements), and termination
  • An overview of property-related disclosures
  • A look at basic contract law, essential elements of real estate contracts, and those that are commonly used in real estate 

Oregon 30-Hour Real Estate Practice

This course offers 30 hours of topics related to the practice of real estate and directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include appraisals; financing; math; transferring title; license law and disciplinary measures; handling and recordkeeping of documents and clients’ funds; Oregon agency law and rules; regulation of brokerage activities; and Oregon real estate-related statutes.

Course highlights include:

  • An overview of how appraisers estimate value
  • A look at basic financing principles including security instruments, types of mortgages, and loan types
  • A review of real estate math including practice performing calculations
  • A summary of deeds and title and how title is transferred
  • A dive into Oregon license law, regulation of broker activities, and disciplinary measures

Oregon 15-Hour Agency Law

This course offers 15 hours of agency law topics directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include agency types, duties, and disclosures; preparing for and working with buyers and sellers, ethics.

Course highlights include:

  • A review of agency types and duties owed by agents
  • A review of how agency relationships are created, disclosed, and terminated
  • A look at how to prepare for and perform a listing presentation and buyer qualification
  • A summary of responsibilities when working with buyers and sellers
  • A look at fraud, misrepresentation, and other ethical issues that may arise when working with customers and clients

Oregon 15-Hour Contracts

This course offers 15 hours of contracts topics directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include essential elements of contracts; contingencies, disclosures, addendum, and amendments; transaction-related contracts, and property handling of documents.

Course highlights include:

  • A review of essential elements of contracts, property handling and recordkeeping, and the licensee’s role
  • An overview of contingencies, addendum, amendments and disclosures that may be needed during a real estate transaction
  • A look at contracts commonly used in real estate practice including the sales contract, listing and buyer representation agreements, and leases
  • A summary of common contract mistakes and how to avoid them
  • A workshop on how to complete contracts

Oregon 30-Hour Real Estate Finance

This course offers 30 hours of financial topics directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include loan terms, types and issues; government loan programs; defaults and foreclosures; instruments used in real estate financing; and government influence on financing.

Course highlights include:

  • An overview of federal legislation affecting real estate and mortgages
  • An in-depth look at the role HUD, FHA and VA play in real estate financing
  • A compare-and-contrast discussion of mortgages and deeds of trust, their common clauses and provisions, and applicable foreclosure rules
  • An overview of the subprime market, predatory lending, and mortgage fraud
  • A look at specialty loan products including piggyback, equity loans, and participation agreements, and creative financing including assumptions, modifications and seller financing
  • Workshop-based activities for calculating principal, interest, taxes, and insurance

Oregon 10-Hour Property Management

This course offers 10 hours of property management topics directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include property management basics; management operations, owner and tenant relations; and laws affecting property management.

Course highlights include:

  • An overview of basic terminology and responsibilities related to property management
  • A review of property management documents including agreements, marketing plans, reports, and leases
  • A summary of how to work with property owners and tenants
  • An overview of commercial property management and how it differs from residential
  • A look at federal, state, and local laws and their effect on property management

Oregon 20-Hour Real Estate Brokerage

This course offers 20 hours of brokerage topics directly applicable to students obtaining their real estate license in Oregon. Covered topics include brokerage structure; business plans; finances; marketing and advertising; and brokerage management.

Course highlights include:

  • An overview of market conditions and demographics
  • A look at business planning and its purpose
  • A summary of how brokerages may be structured and staffed
  • An overview of the brokerage office including planning, design, safety, and finances
  • A look at brokerage marketing and advertising

State Requirements For Oregon

Oregon State Requirement Details for Real Estate Pre-Licensing Education

Hours Required by the State: 150 hours

Licensing Exam: The licensing exam is administered by PSI. Registration for the state licensing exam is an entirely separate process from your course final exam. For instructions to register for your state licensing exam and further information, please click here.

The CE Shop’s Offering: 150 hours

Reporting: The state requires course completions to be reported to PSI. We will report your course to PSI upon completion.

Expiration Date of Course: The CE Shop’s Pre-Licensing courses expire one year after the date of purchase. The CE Shop will allow students to purchase a new course at a 50% discount of the current retail price of the new course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in the student’s account.

Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Final Exams: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary.

Seat Time: It is required that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.
