State Requirements

This package includes three continuing education courses required for license renewals on or after January 1, 2026:

  • Pennsylvania Appraisal Acts and Board Policies (2-hour self-paced course)
  • Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations (7-hour self-paced course)
  • 7-Hour USPAP Update Course (Live Online delivery - Click here to view the class schedule.)

The USPAP Update Course is delivered via Live Online (webinar) format. Students are required to have a working camera and microphone, and expected to be on camera from the shoulders up for the entirety of the course.

Students attending the USPAP Update course are also required to have a copy of the current USPAP®, USPAP® Guidance and Reference Manual, and Course Manual. After enrolling in the course, students will receive an email with the code needed to access digital versions of these materials.

Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations

This 7-hour AQB CAP approved course meets the Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Outline from the Real Property Qualification Criteria for Continuing Education during the first CE cycle after January 1, 2026.

2026-2027 7-Hour National USPAP Continuing Education Course

The 7-Hour National USPAP Continuing Education Course focuses on the requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance by appraisers that are set forth in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). All required manuals from The Appraisal Foundation are included in your course.

This course is offered via live online (synchronous meeting) delivery. Once enrolled, you can select upcoming classes to attend. Classes are offered weekly in two 3.5-hour sessions (Part A and Part B). They must be taken in order, but you can select the schedule options that work best for you. Pennsylvania Appraisal Acts and Board Policies

This course provides two hours of instruction in Pennsylvania appraisal acts and board policies, which satisfies a portion of the continued education needed for licensure in the state. Topics include The Appraisal Foundation, FIRREA, and Federal Components to set up the state specific subjects. Then the course dives into Pennsylvania Real Estate Appraisal Governing Agency and the State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers' administrative powers. The course concludes with a breakdown of the Real Estate Appraisers Certification Act definition and purpose, investigative process, and violations and penalties.

Pennsulvania State Requirement Details for Appraiser Continuing Education

Renewal Date: 6/30 every odd-numbered year

Hours Required by the State for renewals prior to January 1, 2026: 28 Hours

  • 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course
  • 2 hours of PA Act, Rules and Policies of the Board
  • 19 hours of approved continuing education

 Hours Required by the State for renewals on or after January 1, 2026: 28 Hours

  • 7-Hour National USPAP Continuing Education Course
  • 7-hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course or 4-hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course (see explanation below)
  • 2 hours of PA Act, Rules and Policies of the Board
  • 12 hours of approved continuing education or 15 hours of approved continuing education (see explanation below)

Beginning January 1, 2026, a Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course will be required for Continuing Education. Pennsylvania appraisers will need to complete the 7-hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Course prior to the biennial renewal period ending on 6/30/2027. If a certified real estate appraiser or licensed appraiser trainee has completed an 8-Hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Course as part of their qualifying education, the 7-hour course length requirement is satisfied. Every renewal cycle after the 7-hour course requirement has been completed, the certified appraiser or licensed appraiser trainee must complete a Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Course that is at least 4 hours in length.

Please note: If a certified appraiser satisfies the 7-Hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Course requirement prior to the biennial renewal period ending on 6/30/2025, the appraiser will be required to complete the 4-hour course prior to the biennial renewal period ending on 6/30/2027 and for each biennial renewal cycle thereafter.

Reporting: The state does not require schools to report course completions.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account. See Terms & Conditions for more details.

Certificates: Immediately upon appraisal course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion with your renewal. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.
