Description
State Requirements

Fair housing, environmental hazards, and risk management strategies are issues for every real estate licensee. Knowing and adhering to fair housing law will help avoid violations and ensure equal access to housing. Understanding environmental hazards—both indoors and outdoors—helps licensees protect buyers from making costly mistakes. And appropriate risk management techniques can protect the brokerage (its reputation and license) and those it serves.

This 15-hour course for Pennsylvania broker license applicants reduces risk for licensees and those they serve, specifically covering the areas of fair housing, environmental issues, and risk management techniques at the organizational and transactional level, and emphasizing the importance of a robust policies and procedures manual and errors and omissions insurance.

Note: Completion of this course may count towards continuing education hours. This course has been approved for the 2024-2026 two-hour mandatory fair housing topic. The remaining course hours count as CE elective credit.

For any reactivation or extension of the course after the seventh month, The CE Shop will charge the student 20% of the current retail price of the course for each 30-day extension or partial 30-day extension in the event that the course finally terminates before the end of the final 30-day extension. Students may also elect to re-enroll for 50% of the current retail price of the course, if the course has hit the year expiration or the student is at the 7 month mark and wants to repurchase and restart the course and enrollment. Extensions or reactivations cannot be granted beyond 12 months from the purchase of the course since, in all events, the course terminates 12 months after purchase.

Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Proctored Final Exam: The state requires your final exam to be proctored. You’ll need to schedule an appointment with a proctor in advance. You can find full details of the proctoring process here. Upon passing the final course exam, you will be asked to sign an affidavit verifying your identity as the student who completed the course and the final course exam.
