Topics include real estate and South Dakota license law, property ownership, encumbrances, legal descriptions, transfer of title, closing, contracts, agency, antitrust, valuation, finance, real estate math, property management/leasing, fair housing, and environmental risks and health issues.

You'll also receive the 30-Hr. SD Post-Licensing Package, containing the courses required to complete your first year of continuing education.

South Dakota 116-Hour Broker Associate Pre-Licensing Course

This course provides 116 hours of instruction in principles of real estate which is the required course of study for the broker associate licensing examination in South Dakota. Topics include real estate and South Dakota license law, property ownership, encumbrances, legal descriptions, transfer of title, closing, contracts, agency, antitrust, valuation, finance, real estate math, property management/leasing, fair housing, and environmental risks and health issues.

State Requirements For South Dakota

Hours Required by the State: 116 hours

Licensing Exam: The licensing exam is administered by PSI. Registration for the state licensing exam is an entirely separate process from proctoring for your course final exam. For instructions to register for your state licensing exam and further information, please click here.

The CE Shop’s Offering: 116 hours

Reporting: The state requires course completions to be reported to the state. We will report your course to the state upon completion.

Expiration Date of Course: The CE Shop’s Pre-Licensing courses expire one year after the date of purchase. The CE Shop will allow students to purchase a new course at a 50% discount of the current retail price of the new course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in the student’s account.

Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Final Exam: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 80% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.

Seat Time: It is required that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.

Max Hours in a 24-Hour Period: Licensees will not receive credit for more than 8 hours of continuing education in a 24-hour period. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.

Post-Licensing: New Broker Associates are required to complete 60 hours of post-licensing courses in their first and second renewal cycles; 30 hours in first license renewal and 30 hours in second license renewal. The CE Shop currently offers some of the post-licensing hours.
