West Virginia Brokerage Management and Supervision

Being a broker comes with a serious responsibility: supervising licensees who work independently and out of sight of the broker as they guide clients through the ups and downs of a real estate transaction.

This three-hour course is designed to help brokers meet that responsibility with professionalism and reduced risk to their license. Brokers’ responsibilities include supervising, documenting, and managing the real estate activities of their firm. This course offers several ways to minimize the risk exposure for the broker, the broker’s licensees, and the brokerage firm.
Wholesaling Uncovered: Risks, Laws, and Real Estate Realities

Real estate wholesaling is not a new concept, but its practice, regulation, and public perception have changed significantly in recent years. For real estate professionals navigating a market where wholesaling is becoming more popular and increasingly problematic, understanding its legal, ethical, and professional implications is more important than ever.

This four-hour course provides a straightforward examination of wholesaling: how it operates, when it crosses legal and ethical boundaries, and why it faces greater scrutiny from lawmakers and the public. You’ll examine how some investors use wholesaling as a legitimate and transparent strategy to build wealth, while others exploit it to bypass licensing requirements, mislead sellers and buyers, and disrupt housing stability, particularly in vulnerable communities.

West Virginia State Requirement Details for Real Estate Broker Continuing Education

Renewal Date: 6/30 each year

Hours Required: 7 hours

  • 4 hours - elective hours
  • 3 hours - broker-specific CE

The CE Shop’s Offering: 7 hours

  • 4 hours - elective hours
  • 3 hours - broker-specific CE (brokers/associate brokers only)

*Effective 6/9/2023 Brokers and Associate Brokers must complete at least 3 hours of broker-specific education as part of their 7 hours of CE required for renewal. The CE Shop offers a 3hr broker-specific course which meets this requirement. 

The CE Shop is an approved provider in West Virginia.

Reporting: The state requires course completions to be reported to the state. We will report your course to the state upon completion.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account. See Terms & Conditions for more details.

Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.      

Final Exam: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 75% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.

Repeating Courses: Licensees cannot take the same course for two consecutive years.
